The Juventus midfielder is set to become the first player in history to win the World Cup with two different clubs.
Rafael "Koop" van der Vaart has been one of the most exciting players in European football over the past decade, but few would have predicted that he would be playing at the World Cup with two different clubs. That's exactly what he will do, however, as he joins Real Madrid and then Juventus in the competition.
Van der Vaart was born in the Netherlands and began his career with Ajax before moving to England to play for Tottenham Hotspur. He made a name for himself during his time at Spurs, helping them to win the Premier League title in 2008-09 and being named Player of the Year twice.
But it wasn't until he joined Real Madrid in 2011 that Van der Vaart really established himself as one of the world's best midfielders. He helped the club to win La Liga in 2014-15 and then won the Champions League in 2016-17, becoming only the second Dutchman to do so after Johan Cruyff.
Now, with his move to Juventus, Van der Vaart has the chance to add another trophy to his collection. The Serie A champions are currently top of the league and look like being crowned champions again this season, while Juventus themselves have also been impressive throughout the tournament.
It's going to be interesting to see how Van der Vaart performs for both clubs in the World Cup, and whether he can help them both to glory. But either way, it's sure to be a thrilling tournament for fans of the Dutch game.
